San Jacinto Deck Cleaning FAQ

What exactly is involved with Deck Cleaning?

The term is a little misleading. A more appropriate phrase would be "deck restoration." There are so many thing trying to damage your deck, be it mold, mildew, moisture, wood rot, or termites. Our job is to prevent all those things with appropriate countermeasures. The first step is using an environmentally safe chemical that treats the wood and helps clean and preserve it. Next, we power wash your deck to remove all the stains, dirt, mold and mildew. And finally (assuming there are no infestations) we use a wood brightener to enhance the color of the wood and further protect it against the elements.

What are some things I can do to help my deck last longer?

Roughly a month after you dech has been cleaned, we recommend using a sealer to help preserve the wood. Depending of the product, you can either paint, roll, or spray the sealer onto the boards of your deck. This will literally "seal" in the treatments that we have made to your property. Just be sure to leave four to eight hours of clear weather before you lay it down, otherwise rain could remove all the hard work you just did. Otherwise you've just extended the lifespan of your deck tremendously! The color of sealers are very simple, rustic, two tone, cedar and natural.

Will any of these chemicals being used hurt my plants or animals?

Absolutely not. Unless a plant comes into a copious amount of contact somehow, these treatments are made to be withstood by living creatures and generally will not harm anything that touches them briefly. When it comes to overexposure, however, there may be cause for concern, so keep your pets inside for a few days and they'll be fine.
